In January 2021 Hope Street Food Pantry was chosen to receive a $10,000 grant from the American Heart Association and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. This grant was specific for the assistance in purchasing a larger and more reliable box truck, so that the pantry can transport more food for their community. Hope Street Food Pantry participates in the TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) through SHFBM. Having a larger truck will enable HSFP to pick-up free pallets of food every month.
