Impressed by all that Hope Street Pantry is doing to care for the community, the American Heart Association invited Hope to participate in their Health Promoters Program. This initiative was designed with feedback from the community and is the result of two pilot groups. This initiative is for groups of individuals who are interested in improving their health and the health of their community. Health Promoters is broken into six, one-hour weekly sessions. These sessions were held virtually and covered Covid-19, exercise, blood pressure, hands-only CPR, presentation skills/social media skills and healthy eating. The mission is to increase the social safety net of cardiac events and give the community tools to improve health outcomes. Participants will work to empower others in the community with the information learned. Visit the American Heart Association Charlotte website for information on how to stay healthy www.heart.org.
